About the Mercedes-Benz Gaggenau plant

The Mercedes-Benz Gaggenau plant was founded as "Firma Bergmann’s Industriewerke in Gaggenau" in 1894, making it the oldest automotive plant in the world. The location is both the city’s biggest employer and the biggest training company in the region.

In addition to producing transmissions for all of Daimler's vehicle divisions, the facility also makes planetary gear and portal axles, as well as torque converters for cars. The Mercedes-Benz Gaggenau plant is the competence center for commercial-vehicle transmissions in Daimler AG's international production network. The plant's employees support quality management activities around the world, provide on-site start-up support and train international teams at Gaggenau. Also here vocational training has a long tradition: More than 10,000 young people have completed their training in the oldest automobile plant during the last 100 years.
