The largest Mercedes-Benz Trucks assembly plant outside of Germany was dedicated in 1956. This plant is responsible for production of all Mercedes-Benz Brazilian trucks (Accelo, Atego, Atron, Axor and Actros), aggregates (engines, axles, transmission) and bus chassis. Co-located in São Bernardo do Campo is the Technological Development Center, which is the largest in South America.

Between 2018 and 2022 São Bernardo do Campo plant is undergoing the biggest modernization in its history -- including all assembly lines for trucks, buses and aggregates – to Industry 4.0.

The truck and new truck cabin assembly lines are fully operational. Both are supported by the four pillars of modern industry – digital technology, connectivity, data in the cloud, Big Data and Internet of Things – and are considered to be technological benchmarks around the world.
